President-elect John Mahama has promised that his incoming administration will commission an inquiry into deaths related to the recent election if outgoing President Akufo-Addo fails to do so.

The President-elect made this known on Thursday, when Mr Irchad Ramiandrasoa Razaaly, European Union (EU) Ambassador to Ghana, paid a courtesy call on him in Accra to congratulate him on his victory in the December 7 general election.

“We will investigate the deaths and so nobody will have the impetus to commit such crimes in future,” President-elect Mahama said

He reiterated that his administration would investigate the Ayawaso West Wougon violence and that the 2020 election killings would be investigated and appropriate compensation given to the victims and the culprits punished.

On his part, Mr Razaaly congratulated President-elect Mahama on his election victory and extended similar congratulatory to Vice President-elect Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, for being the first woman to occupy that office.
