Prominent Journalist, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, has said recent actions taken by the new Acting Inspector General of Police, Dr George Akuffo Dampare, inspires confidence in the law enforcement agency.
Speaking on Rev Owusu Bempah’s arrest on Good Morning Ghana’s breakfast show on Tuesday, September 15, 2021, he said the IGP appears to be willing to enforce the law regardless of who breaks the law in the country.
“I think the police is working. I’m confident that we have started seeing something good from the Ghana Police Service,†he said after explaining how quick the police responded to a complaint he once lodged late in the evening.
He was, however, doubtful that the Acting IGP will be allowed to continue his work fearing there may soon be political interference.
Kwesi Pratt Jnr said the level of impunity in the country was so frightening, stressing that Ghana needs a proactive police boss like Dr Dampare.
He then cautioned Ghanaians to be very careful since anyone can be a victim of the widespread impunity.Â
The current IGP, Dr George Akuffo Dampare, was appointed as the acting Inspector General of Police on July 21, 2021, by Nana Akufo-Addo.
He has recently received a lot of praise from a section of the public for arresting the leader of the Glorious Word Power Ministries International.
Rev Owusu Bempah is revered because he is seen as the spiritual father of the President.
