The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has paid a surprise visit to the offices of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) to familiarise himself with their operations.
The visit was also to enable Dr Bawmumia get a firsthand knowledge of any challenges the organisation might have.
Bawumia met Mr Agyenim Boateng Adjei, the Chief Executive Officer, of the PPA and other members of staff.
Mr Adjei briefed the vice president of the organisation's plan to implement an E-Procurement process by June 2017 to bring greater transparency to their operations and the procurement procedure.
Having an e-procurement procedure allows members of the public to track any procurement application in real time and largely eliminates the scourge of corruption.
Mr Adjei also announced the setting up of a value for money audit team to undertake due diligence and value for money audit on all procurement processes before final approval is given.
