It was all compliments for the Minister-designate for the Ashanti Region, Simon Osei-Mensah when he appeared before the Appointments Committee of Parliament for vetting.
In a vetting which lasted under one hour, Mr Osei-Mensah received commendations from both the Minority and Majority members of the House.
Members including Patricia Appiagyei (NPP-Asokwa), Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NPP-Manhyia South), Eric Opoku (NDC-Asunafo South), Sarah Adwoa Safo (NPP-Dome Kwabenya), Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka (NDC-Asawase) and  Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu all had very kind words to describe the nominee.
Apart from being commended by almost all of the members of the committee who spoke during the vetting, NDC MP for, Inusah Fuseini (NDC-Tamale Central) also took time off his schedule to attend the vetting and pay Mr Osei-Mensah compliments.
"Just to add and associate myself with the numerous commendations coming the way of the nominee. Congratulations Simon. Indeed, I had the privilege of working with Simon when I was a member of the ACP-AU joint parliamentary union while he was with the ECOWAS parliament. Even though he was very unassuming in parliament and was not easily noticeable but when we got there, he immediately warmed up to me and that was the beginning of a relationship that has brought us to this day and that is why I've come to support him. This was so again in Angola when we met there. I have no doubts in my mind that Simon will succeed in Kumasi [Ashanti Region]", Mr Fuseini stated.
Having served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Bosomtwe Constituency from 2005-2017, Mr Osei-Mensah represented Ghana at the ECOWAS parliament where he is said to have diligently distinguished himself rising to the position of the fourth speaker of that House in the process.
