The Supreme Court will today, Thursday, January 23, 2025, hear a case filed by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The party is challenging a High Court ruling that directed the Electoral Commission (EC) to complete and declare parliamentary election results in four constituencies.

The High Court, led by Justice Forson Baah Agyapong, issued the ruling on January 4, 2025. It granted an application by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), ordering the EC to finalise the collation of results in Okaikwei Central, Tema Central, Techiman South, and Ablekuma North constituencies.

Following the ruling, the EC recollated results for three constituencies—Okaikwei Central, Tema Central, and Techiman South. However, results for Ablekuma North are yet to be completed.

The NDC has petitioned the Supreme Court to overturn the High Court’s decision. The party argues that the ruling raises legal concerns about the electoral process and wants it nullified.

This case is expected to have significant legal and political implications, as the Supreme Court’s decision could shape future election procedures.
