Deputy Finance Minister and Member of Parliament representing Atiwa East Constituency (Eastern Region), Abena Osei Asare has said that the Akufo–Addo led government is closing up all leakages and loopholes that previously existed in the erstwhile NDC administration .Â
She expressed confidence that at the end of a special procedures initiated on the basis of the Auditor General’s report, all government officials found culpable for corruption will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.Â
Ms Osei reiterated the President's commitment to fight corruption across various sectors of the economy and government was introducing effective measures that will protect the national purse.
She made this known in an encounter with Prime News in Accra.
When asked about her thoughts on people who criticised the NPP government for achieving practically nothing over the past months of it being in power (on the basis of its promises to create economic prosperity in the country), she said: “a lot of things has gone on within these past eight (8) months: we [the leadership] are setting the economy on the right pathâ€.
She cited the tax exemption regime introduced, the ongoing implementation of the one-district-one-factory project, the declining inflation rate, among others as some progress made over the last 8 months of the administration.

In addition, she affirmed the government’s promise to create 60,000 jobs through the Youth Employment Authority and several thousands more employment opportunities to be created through the ‘one-district-one factory’ initiative.
The Deputy Minister urged the Ghanaians to remain patient till the end of the year – 2017, to  begin their performance assessment of President  Akufo–Addo administration.
