We’ll correct wrongs of Akufo-Addo’s govt – Mahama

President-elect John Mahama has vowed to tackle corruption, curb excessive government expenditures, and correct the wrongs of the outgoing administration as a cornerstone of his leadership.

Delivering his New Year message for 2025, the President-elect assured Ghanaians of his commitment to restoring integrity and efficiency in governance.

"We will work tirelessly to correct the outgoing administration's many wrongs, tackle corruption with dogged determination, and reduce excessive government expenditures," he stated.

Mr Mahama outlined plans to reset Ghana’s economy for growth and job creation, anchored by the implementation of his 24-hour economy policy.

He pledged to transform Ghana into an export-driven economy while fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development.

"Together, we will create an environment that fosters entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainable development, ensuring that our youth can achieve their dreams right here at home."

The President-elect promised a lean, efficient government that listens to the aspirations of every Ghanaian.

He emphasised his administration's focus on accountability and inclusiveness, ensuring that the governance system reflects the shared hopes and dreams of all citizens.

Recognising the youth as the backbone of Ghana's future, Mr Mahama urged them to harness their energy and creativity for national development.


He also pledged to support businesses by removing barriers and simplifying processes to promote entrepreneurship and wealth creation.

"To business owners and entrepreneurs, I want to assure you that my administration will support your efforts to create jobs and wealth. We are committed to removing barriers, simplifying processes, and providing the necessary resources to empower you to build and expand your businesses," he said.

The President-elect called on Ghanaians to embrace unity and positivity as the nation embarks on a transformative journey.

He reiterated his commitment to fostering a Ghana of opportunities, equity, and shared prosperity.


Mr Mahama expressed confidence in fulfilling his campaign promises and building a prosperous future for Ghana.
