Black Stars coach Otto Addo has confirmed that Mohammed Kudus will captain for the team in their doubleheader against Sudan.

The senior national team is set to face the Falcons in the first leg of their doubleheader at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday with kick-off scheduled at 16:00GMT.

During a press conference on Wednesday, the 45-year-old coach confirmed Kudus, a West Ham United forward, as the team captain for these matches.

Thomas Partey, who had been filling in as captain in the absence of Andre Ayew, was unable to attend due to a medical issue.

Meanwhile, Richard Ofori, the second deputy captain, has not featured for the team since the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and is not part of the current squad.

Although Jordan Ayew is the most experienced player among the current roster, Kudus will lead the team from the dressing room onto the pitch.

Since his debut in 2019, Kudus has netted 11 goals in 36 appearances for the national team.

The Black Stars are eager for a victory following a disappointing start to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, which saw them suffer a 1-0 loss to Angola and settle for a 1-1 draw against Niger.

The return leg against Sudan is scheduled for Monday, October 14, at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Jediane as part of the Matchday four fixtures.
