An elated Sadio Mane says leading his country, Senegal to their first AFCON trophy is the best day of his life.
The Liverpool forward netted the winning spot-kick as Senegal beat Egypt 4-2 on penalties to clinch their first-ever AFCON title after the final ended goalless following extra time on Sunday.
The former Southampton forward had earlier seen a seventh-minute penalty saved by Pharaohs keeper Gabaski.

Speaking after winning the trophy, Mane who couldn’t hide his excitement, said the trophy is the most important one he has won.
“It’s not only the most important trophy, but it’s also the most important day of my life, the best day of my life,” he said.
“And of course, so far the best trophy of my life and I can’t express my feeling, I am very happy.”
The 29-year old also dedicated the trophy to head coach, Aliou Cisse, who as a player missed a crucial penalty in the 2002 final defeat and was in the dugout for their loss three years ago to Algeria.
“For me, I want to dedicate this trophy to Aliou Cisse, I think he deserves it. He is something else.”
