Egyptian giants Al Ahly have named Martin Lasarte as the club’s new coach on an 18-month deal.
Lasarte comes in after the departure of Frenchman Patrice Carteron who left his job last month a successful CAF Champions League quest.
Lasarte’s previous jobs including coaching Uruguay giants Nacional, Chile’s Universidad Cataloica and Spain’s Real Sociedad.
“I chose Ahly because it’s a great club and one of the best on the world,†Lasarte said.
“I came here to win everything. We have to work together to achieve our goals. When you work in a very popular team like Ahly you have to make the supporters happy and satisfied, and that never happens except winning titles,†he added.

The 57-year-old begins his Al Ahly career on Sunday, December 23 in the CAF Champions League against Ethiopia’s Jimma Aba Jifaar in Addis Ababa.
