Jhon Duran and Morgan Rogers were on target as Aston Villa increased the pressure on Pep Guardiola with a deserved 2-1 victory over struggling Manchester City at Villa Park.
The Colombian hitman, Duran, made it four goals in his last four outings when he polished off a sublime move involving the outstanding Youri Tielemans and Morgan Rogers on 16 minutes.
City were fortunate not to have fallen behind earlier with Stefan Ortega producing wonderful saves to keep out Duran and Pau Torres inside two minutes.
Villa continued to offer the greater threat and Rogers struck a deserved second goal on 65 minutes to seal the points, with Phil Foden's stoppage-time strike flattering the visitors.
The result sees Villa climb above Man City into fifth spot ahead of the rest of the weekend’s fixtures.
The champions drop to sixth – a point further back - and have now lost nine of their last 12 matches in all competitions
