Black Stars defender Jonathan Mensah has extended his stay with Columbus Crew by signing a one year contract.
The 29-year-old penned a new contract following the expiration of his deal with the Yellow and Black lads as his new contract is expected to end in 2020.
He has been named the Black & Gold’s 2019 Defender of the Year for his performance in the season under review. He played 24 matches and helped Columbus Crew to a 10th place finish in the Eastern Conference.
Jonathan Mensah joined Columbus Crew from Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala in 2017 for an undisclosed fee and has been a mainstay in the MLS side’s backline since.
He previously played for AshantiGold, Free State Stars, Granada, Evian, and Anzhi Makhachkala.

Mensah has made 77 appearances with three goals to his credit for Columbus Crew.
The 2009 U-20 World Cup winner was among Kwesi Appiah's 23-man AFCON squad that got eliminated at the round of 16 stage.
