Hooliganism marred a Ghana football match once again, on Sunday, February 16 when referee Eso Doh Morrison was assaulted in a Division One match between Elmina Sharks FC and Swedru All Blacks.
All Blacks won the game 1-0 to go four points clear of the Access Bank Division One League Zone 2, while Elmina Sharks dropped to 13th place.
Match officials had to be rushed off the field after the game at the Ndoum Stadium.
The game was halted for 25 minutes after Morrison was attacked by players and officials of Elmina Sharks over a controversial penalty call for Swedru All Blacks.
Footage from the match shows that referee Morrison initially did not whistle for a penalty after two players collided in the Sharks penalty area.

However, after medics attended to the players, the referee awarded a penalty to Swedru All Blacks.
At full-time, the match referee was confronted by three fans while he was about to enter the tunnel leading to the dressing room.

While the officers were able to isolate him with the help of a yet-to-be-identified man, some players of Elmina Sharks still got to him.
Elmina Sharks player Jay Asamoah Kola who was captured in the viral video attempting to hit referee Morrison with a stone has been charged with breaching Section 13 (1) (k) of the Ghana Football Association’s Disciplinary Code.
This happened on the same day a heartbreaking one-week ceremony was held for Asante Kotoko fan “Nana Pooley” who was stabbed to death in Nsoatreman.
The event was attended by some Ghana Premier League clubs including Bechem United and Hearts of Oak, and other top figures in Ghana football.
