Minister-designate for Youth and Sports, Isaac Asiamah has disclosed that the country spent less than four million dollars on the just-ended Africa Cup of Nations(AFCON) in Gabon.
Speaking before the Appointment Committee of Parliament, he said they realised that figure following the slash in bonuses.
He said, a proposed winning bonus of $10,000 has been slashed down to $5,000(50 percent down) and other bonuses and therefore brought down the initial 4.4 million dollars proposed in the earlier budget and about 1.5 million dollars was retained.
The earlier budget he said, was presented to the transition team on January 10 by which time, Mr. Nii Lantey Vanderpuye was not in office as the Minister of Youth and Sports.
The budget signed by the Chief Accountant of the Ministry he said, proposed $10,000 as winning bonus at the group stage, $12,000 for the second stage and the quarter-finals while $15,000 was scheduled semifinals and finals.
Mr. Asiamah added that he did not receive any bonus while on duty at Gabon for the AFCON.
