Local friendly games that lived to expectations after Anas expose

Football clubs have kept themselves busy as the Normalization Committee continues with the reformation of Ghana football.

Below PrimeNewsGhana looks at some matches that lived up to the billing after the Anas expose.

Hearts of Oak beat Black Satellites 

The two teams engage in a fiercely contested friendly at the Tema sports stadium. The Phobians used the friendly to prepare for the Normalization Committee's special competition while the Black Satellites used the match to sharpen the rough edges before they enplaned to Niger.

An entertaining game saw neither side broke the deadlock of the game in the first department. A tactical change by the Phobian gaffer Kim Grant, bringing on Kofi Kordzi saw him score from Benjamin Afutu’s corner kick with a powerful header.

Kofi Kordzi added another goal in the 78th-minute mark with a powerful strike to make it a tall mountain to climb for the U-20 side.

Nathaniel Agyei former captain of U-17 team came from the bench and scored the consolation for the Black Satellites.
The game was the last friendly for the Satellites before they enplaned to Niger for the U-20 AFCON.

JAK CUP: Kotoko 1-1 AshantiGold

The match dubbed the JAK Cup was played to honour former President John Agyekum Kufuor for his contribution to Ghana football. 

The match between the regional rivals didn't disappoint as fans were treated to some beautiful game of football characterized by high intensity and end to end action.

The first half of the match did not produce any goal despite both teams creating a lot of chances.

AshantiGold were the better side in the first half as they dominated most part of the game

The Porcupine Warriors finally took the lead through an Emmanuel Gyamfi goal on the 57th-minute mark.

The enterprising winger latched onto a cross from Abass Mohammed and went past AshGold defender Osei Agyeman before firing into the right corner of the post.

The game was pushed to extra time but neither side could get that second goal to win the match.

The later date for the second leg is yet to be decided by organizers of the match and the regional rivals will have to wait in patience for another time to get one over their opponent.

KOTOKO VS HEARTS (2-0)

The match was the first friendly between the two sides in the wake of Anas Number12 documentary which revealed rot in Ghana football.

Fans were treated to a lovely match as both sides paraded their full squad to honour the match. Matches between these two sides have always been a cagey encounter due to the fierce rivalry.

An end to end action thrilled both sides of the supporters but it was the Porcupines who broke the virginity of the game courtesy Burkinabe import Sogne Yacouba. 

It's Asante Kotoko who will go to recess on a high following Sogne Yacouba's solitary strike.

Sogne Yacouba piled further misery for Hearts of Oak as he put scored the second goal with a fantastic close range strike.

AshantiGold 3-1 Medeama

AshantiGold continued to make their home ground a fortress as they beat Medeama in a friendly at the Len Clay stadium.

The hosts went ahead in the early stages of the game when Amos Addai scored on the 8th minute after an excellent effort by Sadick Adams.

The Gold and Black side doubled their lead in the 29th minute when Eric Donkor scored a screamer with a left-footed drive from the edge of the box to beat goalkeeper Yaw Ansah Fufuro.

Five minutes from recess, Medeama SC were awarded a penalty after Kwasi Donsu had been brought down in the box by goalkeeper Robert Dabuo.

Kwame Boateng stepped up to score from the spot to make it 2-1 before halftime.

The visitors failed to capitalize on their second-half dominance to get the equalizer.

Substitute Daniel Gozar completed the victory for the Miners when he pounced on a rebound to score the third.

Ashanti Gold SC will face Asante Kotoko SC next weekend in Kumasi.

Liberty Professionals 0-1 Dreams FC

Dreams FC stunned Liberty Professionals 1-0 at their own Carl Reindorf Park in an epic friendly encounter. Matches between the two sides have always been a delight to watch because of the youthful display of talent from both sides. 

A beautiful finish from evergreen Eric Gawu under just eight minutes into the game sealed the victory for the Dawu based lads.

The Liberty came close to pulling the equalizer few minutes before the break but striker Stephen Agyemang shot wide
