Hearts of Oak beat Heart of Lions on penalties to win the 2024 Homowo Charity Cup.

The match played at the Accra Sports Stadium saw the Phobians edge their opponents 8-7 on penalties to lift the trophy.

The match was a hard-fought battle, with Hearts of Oak initially trailing after their former forward, Kwadwo Obeng Junior, opened the scoring for the Lions in the first half.

However, Hearts of Oak found the equalizer just before full-time, thanks to a goal by Hussein Mohammed.

With the score locked at 1-1 after regulation time, the match was decided by penalties, where the Phobians emerged victorious.

Lion's Bismark Anim missed his spot-kick, handing the trophy to Hearts of Oak.

The friendly encounter provided Hearts boss Aboubakar Ouattara the opportunity to field new signings including Kwame Boateng and Mawuli Wayo.

They begin their campaign against newly promoted side Basake Holy Stars in the Ghana Premier League which starts on September 6.
