The Cranes of Uganda beat Egypt 1-0 at the Nelson Mandela National Stadium in Kampala to go top of Group E in the World Cup qualifiers.

A 51st-minute strike from forward Emmanuel Okwi was enough to hand the Cranes a famous victory.

The Cranes of Uganda prior to the game were on 4 points but now have 7 points, one more than Egypt who are on 6 and in second place.

The Pharaohs of Egypt will play Uganda in a return fixture on September 5th in Alexandria.

This also gives the Black Stars of Ghana a chance of still making it to Russia as they are currently 3rd on one point.

They will take on Congo on Friday at the Baba Yara Stadium and a win will boost their chances of making it to Russia.
