We need more foodstuff to feed our noisy neighbours - Hearts of Oak reacts to Dumelo's free ginger

Hearts of Oak on Sunday got one over their arch-rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium in the Ghana Premier League Super Clash.

The Phobians put up a spirited performance to beat the Kumasi-based side 1-0 to move closer to the league title.

John Dumelo who prior to the Super Clash vowed that should his beloved Hearts of Oak lose the match, he would sweep the whole Stadium has on Monday morning following the win gifted the club ginger from his farm.

'Dear @HeartsOfOakGH, that was an impressive performance yesterday. Congrats on your win. Here’s free ginger from the farm for you wai!!!!' he wrote on Twitter.

The 1911 club who are on course for their first title since 2009 asked the Politician to top up the ginger with some foodstuff in order to help them take care of their 'noisy neighbours'.

A Daniel Afriyie's second-half strike proved decisive as it handed Hearts of Oak a 1-0 home triumph over Kotoko.

Hearts of Oak who are bent on breaking 12-year Ghana Premier League drought their edged their rivals at the Accra Sports Stadium to move within matches of being crowned champions.

Ticket prices shot up, but that did not deter the fans from filling the 25% capacity on the day to support their favourite clubs amidst loud singing and jubilation.

It was a cagey encounter in Accra with both sides not wanting to risk too much.

Hearts of Oak were forced to make an early change after Emmanuel Nettey got injured and was replaced by Frederick Ansah Botchway.

The only real threat in the first half came from the Phobians when their captain Fatawu Mohammed charged down the right flank into the Kotoko box with his effort hitting the woodwork.

Back from recess, Ibrahim Salifu got a chance to put Hearts of Oak in front but the former Eleven Wonders man was denied by Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Kwame Baah.

Daniel Afriyie Barnie broke the deadlock for Hearts of Oak in the 66th minute with a nice finish into the roof of the net.
