The dream is over for Dreams FC. The Ghanaian fairytale makers saw their remarkable journey in the CAF Confederation Cup brought to a shuddering halt by the ruthless cutting edge of Zamalek.

After a goalless first leg in Cairo, Hamza Mathlouthi's early opener set the Egyptian giants on their way to a 3-0 victory in Kumasi that secured their place in the final with an emphatic dismissal of the competition's surprise package.

Tunisian defender Hamza Mathlouti opened the scoring for Zamalek in the 12th minute, capitalising on a precise pass from Zizo. The visitors doubled their lead in the 27th minute, with Samson Akinyoola converting Mostafa Shalaby’s pass to extend their advantage.

Despite Dreams FC’s efforts, Zamalek maintained control, with Shalaby sealing the victory just before the hour mark. The experience of the Egyptian side proved crucial in securing their place in the final.

Zamalek will now await the outcome of the other semi-final match between RS Berkane of Morocco and USM Alger from Algeria.
