A protest break-up by Zimbabwe’s police in Harare has led to violence when local residents teamed up with demonstrating minibus drivers to pelt the police who also beat up demonstrators amid use of water cannons and tear gas to disperse the crowd reports the BBC.

The unrest began when drivers erected barricades in a protest against harassment and roadblocks by police demanding bribes. Thirty people have been arrested.
Zimbabwe has become increasing volatile in recent weeks with frequent protests against economic hardships and alleged government corruption. Police say they have reduced the number of roadblocks following complaints.
