The All Teachers Alliance Ghana (ATAG) is set to embark on a demonstration against the Ghana Education Service (GES) following the deductions for the 'One Teacher One Laptop' policy.

Under the policy, the government required that teachers pay 30 per cent of the cost of GHS 1,550 through deductions from their salaries while it paid 70 per cent.

But according to the teacher union, the government’s decision to deduct an amount of GH¢509 from the teachers’ professional development allowance as payment for the One Teacher, One Laptop policy was unfair.

The union has said despite a court action they instituted on November 10, 2021, on the stay of distribution and deduction, teachers’ money have been deducted.

The protest, according to the All Teachers Alliance Ghana (ATAG), is "to enable us to register our displeasure on some deductions that has been made on our professional development allowance as teachers".

"We have on a number of occasions call on GES to refund those monies but all to avail", parts of their statement read.

The protest is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at 10:00 am.
