Sitting in Parliament today March 13, 2019, was temporarily suspended after a blackout affected the Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) that supplies power to the chamber.
The blackout is said to have affected the UPS which powers most of the equipment and that forced sitting to be suspended.
The UPS system was damaged following fluctuation over the weekend.
Director of Public Affairs in Parliament Kate Addo in an interview with Joy News explained the situation.
"Lights went off suddenly and that affected our UPS, we had to use our generator and are working to reboot our UPS so sitting will resume"
"The UPS that services the chamber and audio equipment had issues".
Reports indicate the UPS has now been fixed as the MPS has been called back to Parliament.
There was a blackout in most parts of Ghana on Tuesday after the Power Distribution Services Ghana (PDS) disclosed that it was due to some technical challenges.
Power was restored Wednesday dawn as most areas are now connected.
PDS took over from ECG in February 2019 and is expected to turnaround the operations of ECG to make it profitable.
In addition, the new management is expected to improve access to electricity while cutting down on waste in the system to block all leakages that drain the financials of ECG.
