Galamsey: UTAG-UG votes against NEC’s decision to suspend strike

The University of Ghana chapter of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has voted to reject the National Executive Committee’s (NEC) decision to suspend its strike over galamsey.

NEC’s on October 24 directed all UTAG members to end their industrial action by Tuesday, October 29, 2024.

In a statement, NEC encouraged its members to return to classrooms, with tertiary students expected to resume classes on November 1, 2024.

However, in an election held at the University of Ghana Chapter, 290 members voted for the continuation of the industrial action while 226 voted to call it off.
