MP for Ningo Prampram, Sam George says he is relishing the opportunity to be sued for defamation by Ghana Real Estate Developers Association (GREDA).
Sam George in an interview with Accra-based Joy News over the weekend alleged that the real estate sector in the country is a front for money laundering hence calling on the authorities and government to keep an eye on the industry.
Following this comment, GREDA in a statement dated July 25 called on the lawmaker to within the next 7 days retract and apologize for his "unguarded and irresponsible utterance" about the sector without offering any proof whatsoever.
In a swift response, Sam George called off the bluff of GREDA after threatening a lawsuit against him.
He said in a statement on Wednesday, July 26 that he won't apologise for his comments.
He insists that what he said is the truth and he won't be intimidated in the interest of our Nation.
"Dear GREDA, I have taken note of your press release but I do not intend to render an apology, qualified or not, nor make any retraction" he stated.
"I encourage GREEDA to exercise any legal options available to your good selves as you have indicated in your statement."
"I am fortified in my belief that my position is one that the majority of Ghanaians agree with and believe in."
"It may open a vista for a wider investigation into a sector that may not have looked at closely."
Dear GREDA, I have taken note of your press release but I do not intend to render an apology, qualified or not, nor make any retraction.
