Residents of Madina-Adenta have begun their planned demonstration over the numerous deaths on the Highway due to the uncompleted footbridges.
The residents staged an unplanned violent protest last Thursday after a student of WASS was knocked down on the Highway.
This sparked wild protest with residents blocking the road, burning tyres and even clashed with the police.
The government issued a statement that the footbridges on the road will be fixed within weeks.
This morning, reports indicate that about 100 protesters have hit the streets. They began at West Africa High School – the deadly site where the latest victim, a teenage student of the school died last Thursday.
Some of the protesters want to march to Madina. But some of their leaders want them to stop at Adentan SDA junction.
A police blockade awaits them at SDA Junction – the junction where a 33-year-old woman was knocked down and killed some nine days ago.
