The Odorkor Police Divisional Command has arrested some men in possession of grenades in Accra.
One of the suspects is believed to be a member of ISIS, a well-known terrorist group, in its branch in Libya.
Confirming the incident, the Ghana Police Service through a statement by the Director General of Public Affairs, ACP David Eklu said based on Police Intelligence, they had intercepted objects believed to be explosives at Odorkor.Â
The three suspects have currently been detained and are undergoing thorough investigations by a joint team of Policemen and Military officers.
Police has however entreated the public to remain calm while they investigate the matter with the relevant agencies and ensure public safety and security.
They further urged anybody with information related to the case to promptly call 191(on all networks) or 18555(on Vodafone or MTN)
The Libyan government announced late last year that it had identified at least 50 frontline fighters of ISIS who were Ghanaians.
This was contained in a report from an inquiry into crimes committed in cities across Libya by the so-called Islamic State released by the Head of Investigations at the Office of the Attorney General, Al-Seddiq al-Sour.
