A 32-year-old pregnant woman known as ‘Mama’ and her 7-year-old son have been confirmed dead after fire gutted their home Tuesday evening at Afram Plains in the Eastern Region.
Her other son is in a critical condition at the Atibie Government Hospital in the Afram Plains South District of the Eastern region.
The incident occurred around 7:00pm after a heavy downpour. The rain which started around 1.00am according to a resident known as DJ Joe lasted for a while. He said they later saw fire all over a house.
He told Agoo FM’s Ebenezer Kojo Nyavor that they heard a loud voice calling for help only for them to get to the location to see a neighbouring house also on fire.
It took the intervention of residents to quench the raging fire.
He revealed that the deceased husband allegedly sells fuel but could hardly identify the main cause of the happening.
A close source also added that the state of the power crisis in the area could have triggered the sad incident.
The other son according to DJ Joe was later rescued but is in a critical condition.
Due to the nature of the injuries, he was immediately rushed to the Atibie Government Hospital.
Police in the area were able to get to the scene and carry the remains for further investigations to be conducted.
