The Office of the President has refuted claims that President Akufo Addo has appointed former Deputy Attorney General, Kwame Osei Prempeh as the new Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Oil Company Limited (GOIL).

According to a statement from the Presidency signed by Ag Director Communication, Eugene Arhin read;

“For the avoidance of doubt, I wish to state that the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has not appointed a new CEO of GOIL, and when he decides to do so, it will be done in accordance with laid down procedures.”

The statement from the Presidency comes on the back of a statement signed by Board Chairman of GOIL, Prof. William Asumaning, over a purpoted appointment of former MP for Nsuta Kwamang Beposo Mr Osei Prempeh, as published on Ghanaweb portal saying such an appointment will be invalid since the company is listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange(GSE), hence has procedures in appointing its head, which must comply with regulations set by the GSE.
