Resdents in Salaga are calling for the removal of police officials from the area

Residents of Salaga a suburb of Tamale in the Northern region are calling for the removal of police officials in the area due to the unproductive nature of the police when it comes to combating crime in the locality.

According to the residents the policemen in the area prefer to play games such draft to responding to crime in the area.


An Engineering and Planning worker William Boamah was on Thursday killed by a stray bullet on the Tamale-Salaga road from armed robbers, which the residents believed could have been stop if the police had responded to a tipoff given them earlier.


Narrating the incident to Starr News, one of the residents said upon hearing the incident, they went to the police station to report the incident but the police were playing draft and pay no attention to their report.


In reaction to the attitude of the policemen in Salaga the Spokesperson for the Northern regional police command ASP Yusif Mohammed Tanko said they have received complains and will look in to it.


“Concerning the behaviour put up by the men when the case was reported, we have fully receive complain on the incident and we have taken measures to outweigh the difficulty of that road, so that is what we are going to do now, so if the people went to the police and the policemen they met at the time acted unprofessionally in the manner in which they discharge their duty then if they make the complains we will look in to it.”
