The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) says it is carrying out investigations into examination irregularities detected during this year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates.
This comes after WAEC detected cases of malpractice on the part of candidates, supervisors and invigilators in the just-ended exams.
Some of these include; writing on boards for the candidates to copy, smuggling of mobile phones into the examination halls by candidates and teachers, photocopying of answers, and distribution of same to candidates.
It has, therefore, decided to take action against all examination officials and stakeholders who were found culpable
A total of 460,611 candidates made up of 212,954 males and 247, 657 females participated in this year's WASSCE.
