The Electoral Commission (EC) will today, February 11, 2025, conduct the Council of State elections nationwide.
A total of 155 personalities, including 10 women from the 16 regions, have filed their nominations to contest.
The election will commence at 7 a.m. and end at 5 p.m. at the regional coordinating councils in the various regional capitals.
The election of Council of State members is not open to public voting but conducted through an Electoral College made up of two representatives nominated by each District Assembly.
In today’s exercise, 522 people are expected to cast their votes.
The winners will be declared at the voting centers at the close of polls.
The 30-member Council of State serves as an advisory body to the President, Ministers of State, Parliament, and other public agencies to ensure responsible and accountable governance.
