The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has petitioned Parliament over its concerns of alleged discrepancies in the voters’ register for the 2024 elections.

The petition was received by the Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin from NDC's General Secretary of the party, Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey.

The petition among other demands by the NDC are; a bi-partisan probe into the conduct of the EC leading to the recommendation of an independent forensic audit of the voters’ register, an immediate publication of forensic audit findings of the voters’ register, a re-exhibition of the voters’ register post forensic audit, and a five-day re-exhibition of the voter’s register after forensic audit is completed.

Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin the NDC assured that the House will look into the demands of the NDC.

“I agree with the Minority Leader that as a House, we have to look at the issues presented and I encourage all stakeholders to also avail themselves.

“I believe that if there are genuine concerns we can all raise it and discuss it at the table,” he noted.

In response, he said, "This is one of the several ways to enrich our democracy."

He encouraged stakeholders to avail themselves, adding that" if there are genuine concerns, we can raise them at the discussion table."

NDC executives and supporters on Tuesday, September 17, staged a nationwide  protest against the Electoral Commission and its refusal to allow for an independent audit of the voters’ register.
