The Minority Caucus in Parliament and some members of the New Patriotic Party have strongly condemned what they describe as an attempt to intimidate the member of Parliament for Assin South and Ranking Member of the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB).

The private residence of the MP was invaded by officials of the NIB in an attempt to issue an arrest warrant to the lawmaker following recent allegations made by the MP regarding two suspicious flights at the Kotoka International Airport, which he claimed were carrying drugs and cash.

Speaking to the media after a failed attempt to arrest the MP at his residence in Accra on Wednesday, April 9, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the leader of the minority caucus in Parliament, declared his side's unwavering support for their colleague and their refusal to be intimidated.

He described the move by the NIB as politically motivated and aimed at silencing dissent within Parliament

He further emphasised that the Minority remains committed to ensuring transparency and accountability in investigating the allegations made by the Assin South MP and insisted that due process must be followed.

He also called on the public to remain alert and support efforts to uphold justice and fairness

The residence of Rev. John Ntim Fordjour was well secured by some bigwigs of the party, including the party's General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, National Organiser Henry Nana Boakye, Director of Communications Richard Ahiagbah, and some members of parliament and party activists.

Speaking to the Press, the NPP sympathisers noted that they received intel that officials of NIB had invaded the residence of the MP; hence, party supporters had to be mobilised to throng the residence of their compatriot.

Minority Leader, Afenyo-Markin while interacting with the media present at the scene said, "Reverend cannot be made an example, Reverend is not a loner, he has not walked alone and he will not walk alone."

He explained that Rev Fordjour had merely presented the AirMed aircraft issue to the public on behalf of the Defence Committee of Parliament, of which he is also a member, "so nobody should attempt to single him out and try to come here to intimidate him."
