Only a stupid and mad person would vote for President John Mahama after being dismissed from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), an independent parliamentary aspirant for the North Tongu constituency in the Volta Region, Christopher Kofi Eleblu has stated.
The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Tuesday dismissed twenty-three of its members who had filed their nominations to contest as independent parliamentary candidates.
According to the party, the dismissed individuals by going independent had breached of articles 8(d,f); 45( a,b,c &e) and 46(10) of the party's constitution.
In a statement signed by its general secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the party also stated that all NDC executive members who endorsed the nomination forms of independent parliamentary candidates are also affected by the dismissal as prescribed by articles 45 and 46 of the party’s constitution.
But speaking on Okay FM on Wednesday, Mr Eleblu stated that the decision to sack the affected persons was a wrong move, especially in his case, as it was going to affect President Mahama's vote count negatively.
"It will affect the president more than it will affect me because I am at the grassroots level where the president will not go to campaign so if you say I should not campaign for him, he is going to lose", he said.
According to him, his supporters had told that "since they have sacked me and sacked them also, they are going to vote for me and vote for Nana Addo".
"It is only a stupid and a mad person  perhaps who will go ahead and still be voting for somebody who claims you are no more a member of his party or his side", he maintained, adding that "no rational human being will do that".
