Parliament on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, approved six ministerial nominees put forward by President John Mahama following their vetting by the Appointments Committee.
The approval came after a unanimous recommendation from the committee, confirming the appointments of prominent Members of Parliament (MPs) to key ministerial positions.
The Appointments Committee after the vetting, unanimously endorsed the nominees. Parliament then debated the motion for their approval, which led to a smooth confirmation of the appointments.
With the approval, these ministers are now poised to take on their respective portfolios.
The nominees who received approval include:
Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson – Minister of Finance, MP for Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam, and Majority Leader.
John Jinapor – Minister of Energy, MP for Yapei-Kusawgu.
Dr. Dominic Ayine – Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, MP for Bolgatanga East.
Haruna Iddrisu – Minister of Education, MP for Tamale South.
Kwame Governs Agbodza – Minister for Roads and Highways, MP for Adaklu.
Eric Opoku – Minister for Food and Agriculture, MP for Asunafo South.
Meanwhile, the Appointments Committee of Parliament will vet ministers-designate, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey and Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, today, January 22, 2025.
