Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye will be sworn in as the acting President of the country on Sunday.

The decision to swear in the Speaker of Parliament comes after news broke that the Vice President, Dr Bawumia had left the country for the UK on medical leave.

A statement issued by the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joseph Osei-Owusu on Friday on the emergency recall of the House said the event will take place in Parliament at 2:30 pm.

Per the 1992 constitution, the Speaker of Parliament must be sworn in in the absence of the President and Vice President.

It is uncertain where exactly President Akufo Addo will be travelling to on Sunday, but unconfirmed reports suggest he will be in Liberia at the swearing-in ceremony of Goerge Weah's President-elect of Liberia.
