Ga-Dangme women within the political class are on the verge of producing yet another distinguished woman to join the prestigious and privileged few as the wife of a Vice-President of Ghana.

Like the wife of former Prime Minister Prof. Kofi Abrefa Busia, Naa Amorkor Busia, who was a Ga-Dangme from Prampram, Mrs Ernestina Naadu Mills, wife of the late President John Evans Atta Mills, who also hails from Prampram and the current First Lady, Rebecca Naa Okaikor Akufo-Addo, also from Osu Ashante and Ningo, all in the Greater Accra Region, the emergence of Alma Nana Pokua Abena Adade-Prempeh onto the political scene is very welcoming.

Fathered by Justice N. Y. B. Adade of the Judicial Service of the Supreme Court of Ghana and Captain (rtd) Mavis E. Barnor of the Ghana Army, the 37 Military Hospital and also an Ophthalmologist at the Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, Alma Nana Pokua Abena Adade-Prempeh traces her roots to her family house at Ngleshi Adanse in the Greater Accra Region.

Visits

As a politically engaged and commercially astute chartered global management accountant with a strong ability to communicate effectively, the wife of the running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) hit the ground running with a formal visit to her Ngleshi Adanse family house last Friday to seek the support, prayers and blessings of her family.

During the visit, the name "Naa Djama" was bestowed on her by one of the elders of the family. Naa Djama is said to be the name of a powerful queenmother of the Gas.

In the company of the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, Mrs Adade-Prempeh also paid a courtesy call on the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsruru II, at his residence on Tuesday to formally introduce herself to the Ga King and to seek his prayers and blessings as she fully throws her weight behind her husband and the running mate of the NPP, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO), for a successful campaign and ultimately for victory in the December 7, 2024 elections.

Mrs Adade-Prempeh, who is warming herself into the political game, is subsequently expected to also extend the same courtesies to many prominent chiefs and traditional rulers across the country.

Having started her elementary education at Alsyd Academy at Dzorwulu in Accra, Mrs Adade-Prempeh later moved to the Kotoka Primary School at Burma Camp.

She continued with her secondary education at the Accra Girls Secondary School and after graduating from secondary school pursued courses in languages such as German and French at the Ghana Institute of Languages.
