Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwesi Nyantakyi has called on Ghanaians to get behind the Black Stars are they bid to win AFCON 2021.
The Black Stars are among 24 other nations that will be competing at the 33rd edition of the AFCON in Cameroon which kicks start on Sunday, January 9 and ends on February 6.
The Black Stars – four-time African champions are aiming to end the 40-year wait for the AFCON trophy having last won the tournament in Libya in 1982.

However, the recent pre-AFCON friendly 3-0 loss to Algeria in Doha has had many Ghanaians believe the team cannot end their trophy jinx in Cameroon.
But Nyantakyi who lost two finals as GFA boss, one of which was in 2010, with current coach Milovan Rajevac at the helm, wants Ghanaians to have faith in the team.
“This is my country and everybody know that and this is Black Stars,” he said on Onua TV.
“When the Black Stars is playing, everybody supports the team and that is what I am also going to do.
“Let us all unite and support the team because when the team perform, everybody will say Ghana and not one person’s name.
“This is not the time to be saying stuff that divides the country. Let us all stay united and support the team,” he added.
The Black Stars who have been training in Qatar, Doha for the past weeks will today, Friday, January 7 depart for Yaoundé to take on the rest of Africa at the AFCON 2021 in Cameroon.
Ghana who are paired with Morocco, Gabon and Comoros in Group C will open their campaign with a game against the Atlas Lions of Morocco on Monday, January 10 before playing the Panthers of Gabon and the Coelacanths of Comoros on January 14 and 18 respectively.
