The Minister for Youth and Sports, Isaac Kwame Asiamah has sent a goodwill message to Kumasi Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold who are Ghana’s sole representatives in this year’s CAF inter-club Competitions.
The Premier League duo continue their respective campaigns over the weekend, in search for continental glory, which has eluded the country for more than a decade.
Ashantigold hosts Moroccan side RS Berkane in the CAF Confederations Cup on Saturday, September 14 before the Porcupine Warriors also welcome Tunisian giant Etoile Du Sahel on Sunday in the CAF Champions League.
Below is the Minister's statement
I am wishing our two teams who are engaged in the continental assignments, Asante Kotoko and Ashgold well in their respective encounters this weekend.
Kotoko plays Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia in a CAF Championship encounter, while Ashgold welcomes a Moroccan side RSB Berkane in a CAF Confederation Cup.
I call on Ghanaians to rally behind the two teams by trooping to the centres, Baba Yara Stadium and the Len Clay Stadium to give them the maximum support to ensure total victories.
I am confident that our two top clubs will sail through to the next stages of their assignments.
I will like to assure them that the Ministry will support them to get to the finals and move on to annex the trophies for the country.
Once again, I wish them well, total victories.
