GFA sanctions Democracy Cup match between Kotoko and Hearts of oak

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has approved the upcoming clash between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak in the inaugural Democracy Cup being organised by Parliament.

The match is being organised in commemoration of thirty years of parliamentary democracy in Ghana.

Premier League giants Asante Kotoko SC and Accra Hearts of Oak SC have given their consent and will battle each other in the Democracy Cup match.

In a communique from the Ghana FA on Wednesday, June 12, it said it “has granted approval for the Parliament of Ghana to organise the inaugural “Democracy Cup”.

“The GFA wishes to congratulate the Parliament of Ghana for entrenching our democracy and supporting football development in the country,” the communique added.

The inaugural Democracy Cup match between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak will be played on Friday, July 5.

The match will kick off at 6 pm at the Accra Sports Stadium.
