Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Youth, Sports and Culture Alex Agyekum says the Parliamentary Select Committee on Youth, Sports and Culture has set-up a seven-member committee to take over the GFA Normalization Committee's Special Competition which was initially canceled.

The Special Competition was earlier cancelled by the Normalization Committee a week ago after they failed to reach an agreement with the Premier League clubs.

This called for a meeting between the NC, Ghana League Clubs Association(GHALCA), Sports Ministry and the Parliamentary Select Committee on Sports and Culture on Monday to decide whether the competition should be abandoned or continued.

Therefore, the Normalization Committee have been apprised to pay attention to their mandate which is to review status and activate the processes for elections at the Ghana Football Association.

However, the minister for sports, Hon Isaac Asiamah, has set-up a seven-member committee chaired by his deputy Perry Okudzeto to resolve the outstanding issues of regulations, financial package and the management of the competition which the Normalization Committee and the Premier League Clubs have not come to terms with.

Hon Alex Agyekum, Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Youth, Sports and Culture addressing the developing issue on Happy FM after a meeting held at the Ministry of Youth and Sports said "We have decided to set up a committee to handle the special competition"

"Looking at the time left, we’ve decided that the Normalization committee should concentrate on their core mandate so that an interim committee will organize the competition"

"Hon Perry (Chairman) Hon OB Amoah, Madam Lucy Quist, Kudjo Fianoo, Kurt Okraku, Randy Abbey, Alex Asante, will make up the new committee"

"It’s a plus for all us that local football is coming back to the country, it’s going to be refreshing"

"The Normalization committee said they have a committee in place for the special competition for the women’s competition", he disclosed.

This revelation by Mr Agyekum contradicts the government's position that the MOYS is working closely with the GFA Normalization Committee to draw up a road map for the competition and not to take over the work of the Normalization Committee.

The MOYS in a statement released on Monday did not state that they have set up a Committee to work on the competition but was rather working closely with the NC to get the competition in place.
