Uruguay beat Saudi Arabia 1-0 courtesy Luis Suarez, which officially eliminated the Asian-based nation from Russia 2018.
Uruguay started on a good note as they were aware, a win would qualify them to the next stage of the tournament.

In the early stages of the first half, Rodriguez teed up Suarez who arrived and unleashed a powerful shot but was well blocked by the discipline Saudi defence.
Uruguay kept pushing, Caceres' delivered a low cross which was struck high and wide by Canani.
The Saudi's were dominating possession but failed to create any clear-cut chance in the first half.
This gave Uruguay's confidence to commit more men forward which finally paid off.Â
Suarez who marked his 100th cap banged in the goal from a well-delivered corner following a bad miss from the Saudi goalkeeper in an attempt to punch the ball wide.
In the second half, the Saudi's improved their game but still managed only 3 shots on target in the entire 90-minutes.
They dominated the proceedings but unfortunately, so much indecision caused the side not to register a goal.
Oscar Tabarez's men were able to hold on to the goal which eventually advanced them to the next stage of the competition.

The scoreline today officially eliminates Egypt and Saudi Arabia with the host Russia and Uruguay progressing.
