AshantiGold defender, Yussif Mubarik says he is ready to get another crack with the national team after failing to make the Black Stars 'B' squad for the doubleheader against Burkina Faso for the 2020 CHAN qualifier.

Mubarik was part of the sixteen players from the Black Stars ‘B’ squad who were dropped by Coach Maxwell Konadu as they prepare to face Burkina Faso in the first leg on Friday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

According to Mubarik, he felt disappointed when he heard his name was not on the 25-man list, but he will work hard to make the CHAN 2020 squad.

“For the whole night, I wasn’t in a good mood when I heard my name has been dropped from the Black Stars ‘B’ squad."

“It was a surprise to me, I knew I will be part of the team because being part of the national team boosts your confidence as a player. Since there is a big tournament ahead of us, I will work harder to be part of the CHAN 2020 squad in January,” he told OTEC FM.

Next year's CHAN 2020 will be the 6th edition of the African Nations Championship, which is organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) exclusively featuring players from the respective national championships.

It will be hosted between January and February 2020 in Cameroon.

Yussif Mubarik over the weekend was at the heart of defence as AshantiGold recorded a 3-2 victory over RS Berkane in the first of the CAF Confederation Cup.
