Customers of the Electricity Company of Ghana are demanding compensation over the delay in fixing a faulty prepaid system which has left them without power over the past week.
Most of the affected customers have complained that they have had to survive the last few days without electricity which has resulted in so many inconveniences and negative implications for their businesses.
The ECG customers who stormed the offices of the ECG in an attempt to purchase prepaid credits were met with the unfortunate account that there was a technical hitch which caused the server not to respond to the data of customers.
Residents of Achimota, Kaneshie, Dansoman, Korle bu, and surrounding areas were the most affected by the problem.

Officials have consistently assured them that the problems are being fixed, but customers are still seen at the offices at early hours of the day either to take back their cards or to submit new ones for an update.
The Managing director of the ECG, Samuel Boakye Appiah responding to the demands of the customers explained that the issue of compensation has not been duly considered because they were looking for an immediate solution to the problem which was affecting many.
" Our response to this challenge and all the measures we put in place were aimed at restoring the confidence of the public in our operations."
The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission ordered the ECG to fix its problems by Friday, 8th December 2017 or face penalties.
