The Abeka Magistrate Court has remanded into police custody, the Lebanese supervisor of the Abelenkpe branch of Marwako Fast Foods,Jihad Chaaban who splashed pepper paste on the face of a Ghanaian worker,  Evelyn Boakye.Â
This was after he pleaded not guilty to three counts of assault, offensive conduct and causing harm when he appeared before the court on Wednesday.
His lawyers had pleaded for the court to grant him bail but their plea was rejected and he was remanded to reappear in court on March 16, 2017.
Chaaban is alleged to have shoved his subordinate's her face into hot pepper paste on Sunday, February 26 after which he locked her up to prevent her from receiving help because spoilt a blender she was using to grind the pepper.
The matter gained national attention when it was reported in the media with many human rights activist calling for stiffer punishment for the offender.
The management of Marwako has suspended Chaaban who has apologised to the victim but the victim has refused to accept the apology and has insisted on seeking justice.
