Fulham have sent an improved offer for Istanbul Basaksehir defender Joseph Attamah Larweh after the initial offer was turned down by the Turkish league leaders.

Premier League strugglers Fulham have made defensive reinforcements one of their top priorities this month as they look to shore up their rearguard.

Fulham have the worst defensive record in the league, having conceded 49 goals in 22 games and currently lie second from bottom of the table, five points adrift of safety.

Attamah Larweh has emerged on Fulham’s radar after impressing at Istanbul Basaksehir, helping them to the top of the Turkish Super Lig.

The 24-year-old’s versatility which allows him to play in central defence, right-back or holding midfield makes him an attractive proposition to Fulham as they look to strengthen throughout their squad in this month’s transfer window.

However, Istanbul Basaksehir rebuffed initial bid from Fulham and claim he is not for sale as they look to keep hold of their squad in a bid to win the league this season but Fulham have sent an improved offer to lure the Turkish giants to sell the player.

PrimeNewsGhana understands that the Cottagers made an initial € 500,000 bid for the former Ghana under 20 defender but Basaksehir were not keen on it as they expect nothing less than  €1.5m for the 24-year-old.

Ghana international Attamah Larweh has made 45 appearances for Istanbul Basaksehir since joining in 2016 and he still has 18 months to run on his current deal.
