Manager of Marwako Restaurant Abelenkpe branch, Jihad Chaaban, who has been accused of assaulting a caterer at his firm, Evelyn Boakye has been granted a bail of 20,000 cedis with two sureties by the Abeka District Court.
In his first appearance in court, Chaaban pleaded not guilty to three counts of assault, offensive conduct and causing harm and was remanded in police custody.
When he reappeared in court today, his lawyers argued, after the victim had given her testimony, that Chabaan was entitled to bail since investigations into the alleged assault had been concluded.

According to 3news, the court presided over by Victoria Ghansah subsequently granted bail to the accused who is a Ghanaian but of Lebanese descent.
The incident generated huge public outcry with a social media crusade asking people to even boycott the restaurant, but its general manager has asked people to be patient whilst the law takes it course.
